Proventis believes
in supporting the local community. To that end we have become
involved in several projects in the Thames Valley area.
We are currently providing services for:
"Artemis" Project
Youth & Schools Department of Bracknell Forest Police
Sector, Berkshire.
The essential aim of the team is to reduce offending
by young people.
Proventis is building a database called "Artemis".
This is a groundbreaking project and the database side of
it is essential to the project's success.
The database uses web-based technology to allow its use within
the Police's current IT infrastructure. The database will
record all police contact with young people in the the Bracknell
Forest area.
For the last 2 years the Bracknell Youth and Schools Office
has been trying to find a solution that would enable them
to record contacts and the accumulation of risk factors among
young children and teenagers (up to 19 years old) that have
been involved in criminal or non-criminal offences.
The risk factors are a prescribed list of factors which are
believed to contribute towards the potential of a child becoming
more and more involved in crime. This system will allow the
Bracknell Youth and Schools Office to allocate scores to each
child for each specific incident based upon those risk factors.
A high risk factor score will signify that the individual
is in need of more concerted help. Having recognised this,
the Bracknell Youth and Schools Office will be able to refer
them to a relevant agency (e.g. Social Services, Education
Welfare, Youth Services, etc.) in an effort to prevent their
continuing slide into crime.
"Berkshire Bobby" Project
Community Safety Partnership - Thames Valley Police, Maidenhead
The purpose of the Berkshire Bobby scheme is to provide free
home security for the vulnerable and those at risk in the
Maidenhead and Bracknell areas. The scheme has dealt with
an increasing number of referrals since its creation. Until
now, this process has been handled manually in its entirety,
slowing down the response times of the team.
The processing of such information is vital to identify trends
in crime and the fear of crime within the community, measure
the success rate and the costs of the scheme and provide information
to other public bodies (i.e. health, housing, fire, environmental,
local authority, etc). The fact that Berkshire Bobby Scheme
members visit the homes of individuals is a great opportunity
to ensure those vulnerable and at risk are looked after by
the community.
